You’re in charge of bringing a side to a game day party and not sure what to bring? If you're out of ideas for what to bring, this Baked Seemingly Ranch Dip is guaranteed to be a viral hit at your game-day party.

Some of you may be asking the question: what does seemingly ranch mean?! And if you aren't a Swiftie or a Kansas City Chiefs football fan, you likely won't know the pun. Don't worry, we'll fill you in!

The phrase "seemingly ranch" was coined from a viral meme of Taylor Swift. In the tweeted meme, she was pictured at a football game with a plate, "chicken with ketchup and seemingly ranch". The moment became so popular that food brands, like Heinz created an actual dipping sauce called Seemingly Ranch condiment sauce!!

It's a super silly thing to go viral. BUT, with the Super Bowl is around the corner, we couldn’t help ourselves. We had to join in on the fun to make our own Ranch creation. This Baked Seemingly Ranch Dip is a savory baked feta and cream cheese and bean dip seasoned with ranch dressing mix, shallots and topped with bits of crispy bacon and extra cheese. Can we say yum?!

And we must mention that although this is a football game-day inspired dish, it makes a perfect appetizer for any occasion!!

Ingredients:

  • Cream Cheese: There are a couple cheeses in this baked dip to add a rich and creamy texture. One being cream cheese. We used original cream cheese but the lower fat version works just as well.
  • Feta Cheese: Add a lovely richness to the dip. It is important that you get the block of feta cheese for this dip. Baking with the feta crumbles can give the dip a drier texture.
  • Garlic: Minced garlic cloves are sautéed with shallots and add a nice savory flavor and fragrance to the dish.
  • Shallots: We love cooking with shallots because they offer a milder, sweeter taste than an onion would. If you don’t have shallots on hand, you can easily sub for a yellow onion.
  • Canellini Beans: Add texture and more flavor to the dip. Canellini beans have a buttery flavor which pairs so well with this dip. If you can’t find canellini beans, great northern beans are a good swap.
  • Ranch Seasoning: We love Hidden Valley’s ranch seasoning in this dish but Trader Joes also has a good one as well.
  • Bacon: Crispy fresh bacon always makes a dip better! Not only do the bacon crumbles give the dip a lot of flavor, it also adds a little pop of color.
  • Cheddar Cheese: This dish is already cheesy, but a little sprinkle of some cheddar cheese on top really seals the deal on this baked dip.

What is the difference between ranch dressing and dip?

Ranch dressing is a mayonnaise based dip seasoned with dill and other ranch seasonings like chives, parsley, dill and onion powder.

Our baked ranch dip has a mixture of cream cheese and feta that give the dip a creamier and thicker texture. We added in some ranch seasoning and other yummy ingredients like beans and shallots to add more flavor and texture. You won’t see those ingredients in a dressing.

What goes well with ranch dip?

Just about anything will pair well with this ranch dip. Our favorite pairings are ruffled chips and chicken tenders. Fresh veggies like bell peppers, carrots and broccoli pair well with the seemingly ranch dip too.

How to serve baked ranch dip?

We like to make hot ranch dip in a cast iron skillet because it serves two purposes in one: a cooking dish as well as a serving dish. If you don’t have a skillet, bake your dip in a casserole dish

We also love using modular serving dishes so you can easily remove and heat dips and sides, it is important to find microwave-safe serving dishes so you can safely and quickly heat dips in the microwave.

Creamy feta cheese and bean dip seasoned with ranch seasoning and baked to make a delicious warm dip perfect for any football party.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

8 oz cream cheese

5 oz feta block

4 garlic cloves

1 shallot, sliced

1 can canellini beans

1 package ranch dressing mix

4 strips bacon

3/4 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

23 green onions for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Start by adding 4 strips of bacon to a skillet over medium heat. Cook until crispy, remove from pan and place on a paper towel-lined plate. Add garlic and shallot in the same pan you just cooked the bacon in and sauté until fragrant (no need to remove the bacon grease, it will add a nice flavor to the shallots and garlic). Remove from heat.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together softened cream cheese, feta, cooked shallots and garlic. Stir in cannellini beans and ranch dressing mix. In small baking dish or skillet, spread dip in an even layer. Chop bacon and sprinkle top of dip with bacon bits and parmesan cheese.
  4. Place the ranch dip in the preheated oven. Roast for 20-25 minutes until cheese on the artichoke dip is bubbling and golden brown.
  5. Let it cool for 10-15 minutes, top with green onions and extra bacon bits and enjoy warm with chicken strips or ruffled chips!

Notes

We recommend serving with chicken strips, ruffled potato chips, fresh veggies and/or tortilla chips.
