Scale
- 8 slices sourdough bread
- 1 lb turkey meat, sliced
- 1 granny smith apple, thinly sliced
- 8 strips bacon
- 8–10 slices of white cheddar
- 4 tbsp butter (for spreading onto toast bread)
Rosemary-Thyme Mayo Spread
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 tsp rosemary
- 1/2 tsp thyme
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Pinch of salt and pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F for cooking the bacon.
- Line a baking sheet with foil and bacon strips in a single layer on the pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes until crispy. transfer bacon to a paper towel lined plate to soak some of the extra grease.
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, herbs, onion powder, garlic powder, and salt and pepper.
- Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of the bread slices. This will give the outside of the sandwiches a crisp, brown crust.
- Spread a layer of rosemary-thyme mayonnaise spread on both top and bottom slices of bread.
- Layer the sandwich. Add several slices of turkey meat, a couple of slices of granny smith apple, cheese, and bacon. Place the other piece of bread on top. Assemble the other sandwiches.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Place the sandwiches on the hot griddle and gently press down. Cook each side for 4-6 minutes until the sandwiches are golden brown and the cheese is melty. If you notice the sandwiches are cooking too quickly on the bottom before the cheese is melted, reduce the heat. It’s better to go low and slow.
- Once the sandwiches are done, slice in half and serve with a side of chips or a side salad and enjoy.
