Whether you work a corporate 9-5 in an office or have a work-from-home set up as a freelancer, your desk arrangement is essential to your productivity and success during the workday. Sitting at a desk all day can take its toll, but if you have some items at your workspace to help you work smarter and harder, it can make all the difference.
As someone who works from home myself, I know the importance of creating a space that’s enjoyable and comfortable to work in. While investing in new pieces for your office can get on the pricy side, I’m a huge believer in adding small, affordable items to transform the way your space feels — especially since you’re in it a majority of your day.
It’s time to elevate your desk and maximize your productivity. Everything from mini desk humidifiers to keep your skin hydrated in the office, or a new desktop organization system to tidy up your space. Keep reading to learn about all the neat gadgets and more.
4. Girly Girl Caddy
I’m a huge believer that every girl should have a “girly girl caddy” on hand. This could look like something as simple as a small cosmetic bag or a little caddy that’s tucked away in drawer. Simply stuff the caddy with girly essentials you may need throughout the work day — things like hand sanitizer, hand lotion, lip gloss, hair ties and clips and more.
5. Cute Desk Accessories
Even though I’m in my late-20s, I still love a cute desk fidget or toy to add to the mix. I recently learned about the Smiski Hippers toys that you can attach to your computer. They are so adorable and add a fun element to your desk that makes you smile through the day.
6. Desktop Organizers
At the start of the year, my desk seemed to be overrun by documents and other paper files, so finding a desktop storage solution for the miscellaneous papers was essential. I love the chic aesthetic of this acrylic paper drawer. It fits everything I need immediate access to during the day and has tidying up my space significantly.
8. Essential Oil Diffusers
I’m an avid essential oil diffuser, so having one on my desk only made sense. There’s something about diffusing the oils in a space that creates an environment worth working in. I typically add lavender or peppermint oil to keep me calm and boost productivity. You won’t regret this desktop addition one bit!
9. Mini Electric Kettle
Oh, you don’t have a mini electric kettle on hand? It may possibly be one of the best additions to your desk that you didn’t know you needed. No need to make a walk to the break room, because you’ll be able to make a cup of hot tea or matcha right at your workspace.
10. Brick Phone Lock
The Brick phone lock went viral last year as the pressure of content notifications and doom scrolling began to plague peoples productivity throughout the day. This small device locks applications in the touch of a button, which in turn will help you focus on work without distractions.
