White Chocolate Oreo bark. The blend of delicious sweet white chocolate and decedent chocolate sandwich cookies that makes up this bark recipe is to die for.
This may be the easiest recipe we have on our blog. With just two ingredients and very minimal steps, you can make this delicious white chocolate Oreo bark in matter of 10 minutes.
The Best White Chocolate Oreo Bark
Growing up, our mom always used to make this Oreo bark recipe every Christmas. It was a staple holiday candy recipe that we looked forward to having each year. Put this Oreo bark in small plastic gift bags or glass mason jars tied with ribbon for the cutest homemade gift.
Why Do We Use White Chocolate Chips in this Recipe?
While white chocolate almond bark or baking chips are often used in chocolate candies, we opted not use them in this recipe.
The simple reason behind that decision was that they just taste better than baking chips. White chocolate chips give the park a creamier and smoother taste as well.
The only difficult thing about baking with white chocolate chips is making sure you monitor it very closely as you melt it. We have had many fails melting chocolate (one happening last week), where we cooked it too long and at too high of a temperature and it clumped in a ball of cooked white chocolate.
That’s why it’s important to monitor your white chocolate closely. If you decide to melt it in a microwave, we would recommend checking it every 10 seconds to stir and check the melting progress.
What’s in the Oreo Bark?
There are only two ingredients in the white chocolate Oreo bark, and those are:
Oreos: You can’t beaut the taste of an Oreo. We love them too much and if we kept them in our house on a regular basis, we would be constantly tempted to snack on them.
White Chocolate Chips: We grew up loving the cookies and cream Hershey bars, and the addition to white chocolate to this recipe makes reminds us of those Hershey bars…except 100 times better!
How to Make Oreo Bark
Like we said before, this recipe is the easiest recipe on our site! Plus, it’s probably the easiest candy recipe you will ever make.
First, prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper or wax paper.
Put the 15 Oreo chocolate sandwich cookies in a large plastic bag. Smash the Oreos into small pieces. We like to have large pieces and small pieces throughout our Oreo bark. You certainly to not want to break the Oreo into super tiny, fine pieces. Set aside the bag for later.
To melt the white chocolate, we find it easier to melt it in the microwave. You can certainly use a double boiler to melt the chocolate thought.
Pour the white chocolate into a glass, microwavable bowl. We like to use a glass mixing bowl to melt the chips. We monitor our chocolate in 10 second increments, because our microwave is high powered.
After 10 seconds, we take the bowl out, stir the chips and put it back in. Repeat the process until the chocolate is completely melted.
Quickly stir in Oreo pieces. Then, pour the chocolate mixture onto your prepared baking sheet. Use a rubber spatula to spread and smooth the mixture. Chill for 10-15 minutes in the fridge, or until the bark is completely solid.
Remove the tray from the fridge, and either break the bark into pieces with your hands, or use a sharp knife to cut into the bark.
You won’t get even pieces, which makes it more fun and imperfect.
Transfer the bark pieces to an air-tight glass container in the fridge.
Give Homemade Candy as a Gift
We love giving this white chocolate Oreo bark as gifts during the holidays. There are a couple of different ways we like to wrap ours.
You can either add 5-6 pieces to plastic holiday bags and tie them at the top. This way is a super simple and affordable way to package this treat.
The second way we love to package the Oreo bark is in a glass jar. We save our old jelly jars throughout the year to use for this. We put 5-6 pieces in a jar, add a cute red ribbon, and give them to our friends for holiday presents.
