sunday reset guide

The term “Sunday Reset” is all over social media these days. Whether it’s through short vlog-style TikTok videos, long-form YouTube videos, or Instagram carousel slides, I can’t get enough of this content. It has a way of continually motivating me to tidy up our space and “reset” before the week ahead.

And, while I have done some form of a Sunday reset for years, I find myself getting new ideas from creators, prompting me to change my routine to make it feel less like chores and more like I’m romanticizing my life through ordinary and mundane tasks. Not only does it clear my mind, but my space has a rejuvenated sense of being to it.

If you’re looking to start a Sunday Reset habit or looking for ways to change yours up, you’ve come to the right place. Today I’m sharing the ultimate Sunday reset guide to get you ready for the coming week. No matter what the next week brings, taking time to prioritize this new habit will make you feel a bit lighter.

What is a Sunday Reset?

A Sunday Reset is all about doing things on Sunday to help your wellbeing and get ready for the week ahead. It’s a combination of things to tidy your home and take time for some self-care.

Whether it’s doing your laundry, meal prepping for the week, or pampering yourself with a face mask while you watch your favorite show, “resetting” your space and life will become your favorite weekly ritual.

The Ultimate Sunday Reset Guide

Things to Do At Home

1. Change Your Sheets

There’s nothing quite like a fresh set of sheets. While it’s a chore we don’t love to do all the time, we just think of how amazing it would feel when we go to bed that night. One thing we love to do is spray a few sprays of linen spray on your sheets and comforter to make it feel like a luxurious experience.

2. Catch Up on Laundry

By the weekend, our laundry is piled up, and it’s a beast we have to tackle. Having a separate laundry bin for lights, darks, and colors can also help keep your space tidy and make laundry easier. However, it always feels so satisfying when we’ve completely washed and hung everything back in place.

3. Tidy Up or Deep Clean

Whether your home is in need of a small tidy or a deep clean, Sunday is the day to do it. Oftentimes, we deep clean everything every couple of weeks and do a refresh every week. That way, we never feel behind on cleaning, and our space always feels neat and in its optimal condition.

4. Light a Candle

Lighting a candle in a clean space with laundry tumbling in the washer and a chill pop music playlist playing in the background sounds like the most relaxing moment. Once you’re done romanticizing your chores, burning a yummy candle is the perfect cap to the list of things to do around the house.

P.S. These Apotheke candles are our absolute favorite home scents. Use MOZIE10 for 10% off your order.

Things to Do for Yourself

5. Enjoy a Slow Morning

Sometimes you just need a slow morning routine after a long work week and a busy Saturday. Spending some extra time lying in bed, reading a book, or watching some TV before officially starting the day is just what the doctor ordered.

6. Make a Homemade Coffee Drink

While we love going for a cute coffee run on the weekends, there’s still nothing quite like our homemade coffee. The ritual of making a homemade iced latte or hot cappuccino with our espresso maker is something I LOVE to do. It’s so cozy!

7. Journal or Read a Devotional

Sunday is the perfect day to reflect on the week ahead and get your mind in the right headspace. We love to take 10-20 minutes to journal our thoughts or complete our daily devotional. It’s the perfect quiet time spent before the activities of the day begin.

8. Go on a Light Walk

Sundays are the day for leisure walks around town or at a local park. There’s no time and energy for strenuous workouts and long runs. The best way to clear your mind and get outside is to go on a light walk and see how much better you feel.

9. Pick Up Some Groceries for the Week

One thing about me is that I love grocery shopping. However, on a Sunday, it has to be in a store that I find enjoyable. The grocery shopping experience has to be immaculate — whether it’s at a Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, or Central Market, you can’t go wrong. Plus, restocking our fridge with fresh fruits and vegetables for the week is so satisfying, too.

10. Listen to an Uplifting Podcast

During the work week, I don’t listen to many podcasts because I love saving my favorites for the weekend. On Sundays, I need to listen to something motivational to pump me up for Monday morning.

Whatever podcasts you love listening to, pop in your headphones while you’re on a walk and immerse yourself in learning and listening.

11. Meal Prep for the Week

While we don’t meal prep our dinners on Sunday, we do like to meal prep our breakfasts and lunches. It makes things so much easier and convenient. You’ll be thanking yourself throughout the week for putting in the effort ahead of time, too.

12. Take an “Everything Shower”

Have you heard of an “everything shower”? Essentially, it’s where you take time to pamper yourself in every way. An everything shower typically includes all the things, like:

  • Washing Your Hair
  • Exfoliating Your Scalp
  • Applying a Hair Mask
  • Washing Your Body
  • Exfoliating Your Body
  • Shaving
  • Applying A Body Lotion

13. Pamper with a Face Mask

Once you’ve had an everything shower, the self-care continues with a face mask. I love classic, $3 sheet masks most days, but I also love a classy mask as well. It always makes my skin feel glowy and fresh just in time for the new week.

14. Night Cap with Tea and a Good Book

After a relaxing and wholesome Sunday, there’s no better way to end the day than with a nightcap of hot peppermint tea and a good book. Plus, you’ll most likely be cozy in your clean sheets and pajamas, and there’s truly no better feeling than that!
