2. Mix Antiques with More Modern Pieces

A super simple way to make a living room look more expensive is mixing antique pieces with more modern pieces. It makes a room look expertly curated while adding character. We believe that there is something so special when two contrasting designs come together (like contemporary modern and antique pieces).
A good place to find beautiful, eclectic pieces is Facebook Market Place. We bought so many items from Facebook Market Place to furnish our living room. Mixing the older items with a more modern piece of art or modern curved sofa, makes a room feel more expensive.
3. Hang Large Scale Art

Another way to make your living room look more expensive is by hanging large wall art. Large art pieces can get pretty pricy, however, we have the BEST hack to make it less expensive.
First, purchase a beautiful print on Etsy. Most of the prints we’ve bought are anywhere from $2-$6, which is such a great deal. Once you’ve downloaded the print on your computer, you can send an order to Walgreens or your local print shop to have printed on a larger scale. To create more luxurious look in your living room, we would recommend ordering a print at least 20 x 30.
Next, purchase an inexpensive frame and place the print inside. Then, hang the print on your wall and you’ve got a beautiful art piece that was so affordable!
4. Replace Basic Light Fixtures

Often times, the smallest changes make the biggest difference in a space and we truly believe that lighting makes such a significant difference in the mood and vibe of a living room. Whether you live in an apartment, a rental home or have a home of your own, replacing basic light fixtures with a more stylish pendant light or sconce makes all the difference!
5. Layer Textiles

Layering textiles in a space not only makes a room look more expensive, but it also adds warmth and texture to your living room. Our first recommendation would be adding a gorgeous area rug to your space. Area rugs make a room feel more cozy and add character.
Other simple textiles to add to your living room include: layering throw pillows on your couch, hanging curtains to frame your windows and adding a throw blanket on your accent chair or couch.
6. Add Decorative Molding

Adding decorative molding to a living room is super trendy right now and is a great way to make a space look more expensive without breaking the bank. We absolutely love the way it adds elegance and dimension to a basic, flat wall. Styling a living room with a mix of modern and older pieces will make the decorative molding look more fresh and gorgeous.
7. Paint a Room Monochrome

Another trend that’s been taking over the design world is painting a room monochrome. We are obsessed with this trend, because it always elevates the look of room and makes it look more luxurious!
If you’re going for a monochrome living room look, some of our favorite colors to paint a living room are:
- Swiss Coffee by Benjamin Moore
- French Macaroon by Benjamin Moore
- Rose Accent by Benjamin Moore
- Spring Meadow by Benjamin Moore
- Rhine River by Benjamin Moore
