How to Make Spooky Brownies

Best Way to Prep a Brownie Pan for Cooking

We swear by this this trick for prepping your brownie pan! It will make for easy removal from the pan after baking.

Start by buttering your pan with about 1 tbsp of butter and then line the bottom and edges with one piece of parchment paper. You want to make sure the parchment paper will reach above the edge of the brown.

After the brownie is baked and cooled, you can grab the parchment paper on both sides and gently lift the entire brownie sheet out of the pan to slice and serve!

Making Oreo Crust

The bottom layer of these spoon brownies is a delicious Oreo cookie crust. It just takes a couple minutes to whip together and really is what makes these brownies so decadent!

First you will want to place about 2 sleeves of Oreos into a large gallon ziplock bag. Next, seal the bag, removing as much air as you can and crush the Oreos with a rolling pin until you have small crumbs. (You can also crush the cookies in a food processor. ) Lastly, pour the crushed cookies in a bowl and thoroughly mix in your melted butter.

Key to Making the Fudgiest Brownies

Dark chocolate chips and dark cocoa powder are the secret ingredients that make these brownies rich in color and flavor.

Start by melting butter and chocolate chips in a sauce pan. Once melted, remove from heat and whisk in sugar until combined. Next whisk in your eggs one at a time and stir in the cocoa powder. Lastly, fold in the flour. Folding in the flour will make a the texture of the brownies super chewy and fudgey.

Make the Layers

Start by pouring your cookie crust into the buttered pan and pressing into an even layer on the bottom of the pan. You can either do this with the bottom of a cup or your hands. You want to make sure the crust is compact.

Next pour the cake batter over the cookie crust and gently spread with a spatula. The brownie batter will be thick but you will still be able to spread out over the pan.
Lastly, break some of the remaining oreos and sprinkle them over the top. Place the brownies in the oven and let them cook. When you remove the brownies from the oven, decorate them with fun sugar cake toppers.

Favorite Way to Decorate the Brownies

As soon as we removed the brownies from the oven, we pressed some sugar icing decorations into the brownies to make them super festive for the spooky season!

You can also decorate by drizzling with some icing and topping with some festive sprinkles. Have fun with them!
