This post is all about ways to make your living room feel more put together.

8 Simple Ways to Make Your Living Room Feel More Put Together

1. Add Multiple Seating Options

To create a more curated look and feel in your living room is to have multiple seating options. This could include a sectional with two accent chairs, or a sofa loveseat with a couple of accent chairs. Depending on the amount of space you have to work with, will determine the amount of seating you can add to your living room.

We recommend adding chairs of different styles but with coordinating materials. For instance, pairing a cream sectional with two dark grey boucle accent chairs provides plenty of seating, but the mix of fabrics and materials creates that curated, effortlessly chic look.

2. Add a Large Area Rug

One the easiest and more affordable ways to make your living room feel more put together is add large area rug to our living room. Having an area rug large enough for all the furniture to sit on it halfway will make a room feel tied together and grounded.

Layering a patterned rug onto of a larger jute rug creates layers of textures and makes a room feel more personalized. Check out our viral Pinterest rug size guide here!

3. Incorporate Textiles with Different Patterns and Textures

Shopping for different textiles items—like pillows, throw blankets and poufs—that have a variety of color, pattern and texture will create a more curated look as well. We advise against matching pillows more than twice on the same piece of furniture. Having a variety or textures and styles makes a living room feel more cozy and visually interesting.

4. Add a Gorgeous Coffee Table

Finding the perfect coffee table for your living room can be a challenge. We recommend finding one that fills your space appropriately. If you have a smaller living room, opt for a smaller, round coffee table. Larger living rooms can have longer, rectangular coffee tables.

5. Install Curtains

If we had to choose one tip to make your space feel more put together, we would say that installing curtains in your living room can transform your space in a matter or minutes. Not only do curtains texture and softness to a space, but when you install them correctly, they can give the illusion of taller ceilings as well.

Our go-to curtains to brighten and soften a living room are cream or white curtains, however sticking with other neutral colors that compliment your living room are awesome too.

6. Add Greenery or Faux Flowers

Whether you choose to add real plants or faux greenery to your living room, both brighten and bring life into a space. We love adding tall plants to areas in a room that need height—that could be in a corner or by a window.

Smaller potted plants or florals are great accent pieces to add to coffee tables, built-in shelves or side tables.

7. Add Large Artwork

Another amazing way to tie a space together is to add large artwork to your living room. Whether that be above a sofa or on a fireplace mantle. A large pice of art adds a luxe, designed look, and finding one that matches the style of your living room makes it feel more complete.

You can choose one lane print or canvas painting for your living room, a couple of framed prints or creating a gallery wall. Either way you add art, you’ll want to make sure it matches the scale of your living room.

8. Create Functional Storage with a TV Console

Lastly, adding a TV console to your living room can round out the design of the room. We love selection TV consoles for our design clients living rooms and lounge rooms, because they are perfect pieces to add some personality, style and storage to your space.

Depending on how large your TV is, will determine how big your console should be. Your TV console should be at least 8-12 inches wider than either side of your television.
