Our 3 Rules to Styling a Dresser
1. Start with a Large Piece of Art or Mirror
When we style bedroom dressers of dressers in an entry way, we always start by adding a large piece of art or large mirror to ground the space. From there, you will begin to layer the smaller items around it.
2. Add a Large Lamp or Vase
When you are styling a dresser, you want to have different levels of height. We love the assembly of styling dressers, because it makes it look more organic and naturally curated.
You’ll want to add a lamp with a large base or a large vase with greenery or flowers. This will add dimension to your dresser. Plus, it looks so gorgeous!
3. Add Small Decorative Pieces
The last step in styling your dresser is to add small decorative pieces for character. Some smaller items you can style your dresser with are gorgeous coffee table books, decorative boxes, smaller art pieces or other decorative objects.
Most of the time when we’re grouping decorative items on a dresser, table or counter top, we follow the “rule of three”. If you haven’t already heard of the rule of 3, it’s a super simple rule to use when styling your side or end tables. The rule of 3 is grouping 3 objects together in a space. When grouping 3 objects together, the space becomes more appealing and memorable to the eye.
How to Style a Dresser 6 Different Ways
1. Small Dresser Styling
If you live in a small apartment or are styling a dresser in a small space, this is a great idea to take inspiration from. We think smaller spaces are so much fun to style and make rooms look super cozy.
Start by adding a large modern mirror. Then layer a large vase with greenery to the right or left side or the dresser. One the opposite side, layer a small art piece in from of the mirror. Add smaller decorative pieces like a coffee table book and a wooden decorative bowl.

2. Vintage Dresser Styling
We love the layers of decorative pieces to create this vintage-inspired dresser. It gives such a cozy ambience to a room.
This look can look complicated to achieve, but it’s actually quite simple! Start by adding a large arched, gold mirror. Add a large ceramic table lamp to one side and layer a medium and small vintage print in front of the mirror.
The last piece is to add your smaller decorative items using the “rule of three”. Add a (1) stack of books, (2) a small potted plant, and (3) a miniature candle on the opposing side of the lamp.

4. Entryway Dresser Styling
Many people don’t think of putting dressers in their entryway, however we think it’s a genius idea if you have the space! It makes an entryway feel more cozy and provides some practical storage as well.
Start by hanging a large mirror above the dresser. You’ll want to choose one that’s larger, because this will make your entryway feel bigger. Add a large black terracotta lamp to the left side and a vase with tall greenery to the right.
Complete the design with a couple of coffee table books, a small decorative object on top of the books, and a small framed print or painting against the mirror.

5. Crisp + Clean Dresser Styling
If you love a gorgeous crisp, white look, then this dresser inspo is the one to recreate in your space! We are obsessed with the contrast between the clean white dresser and decor. It’s absolutely stunning!
Whether you have a card wall or not, you could easily recreate the crisp, clean look in your space. Start by adding a large neutral print above the dresser. Add a large cement or stone lamp to one side.
To the opposite side of the dresser add a large terracotta vase with tall floral stems. Then complete the look with a couple of stack of coffee table books and small wooden decorative balls.

6. Minimal Dresser Styling
Simple and minimal is sometimes the best way to go with design. It is still gorgeous, but is also super practical in every day life. If you are wanting to hang a TV above your bedroom dresser, then this look is perfect for your space.
Start by hanging your TV. We love the Frame TV’s from Samsung, because when you’re not using it the display scree looks like a piece of art.
Then you’ll want to style your items around your TV. To create a more minimal and clean look, these decor items should be more neutral colored. Add a stack of books and a plant to one side and some small decorative pieces to the other side. Less is better for this minimal design style.
