I love a good birthday party theme, and one that’s punny, unexpected, and food-related is right up my alley. When I saw a couple of people on social media hosting butter-themed parties, I couldn’t help but be charmed by how delightful hosting one would be. Just imagine…creamy, yellow decorations, everyone dressed in the iconic butter color, and indulgent bites that are playful and chic.

Right off the bat, you’ll want to make a list of people to send birthday invitations to. Once you have your list, it’s time to choose the perfect invitations. Make sure to include all the needed party details: Date, Time, RSVP By Date, & Dress Code.

One of my favorite parts of planning a party is making the perfect menu. Since you’ll be hosting a butter party, your food needs to be butter-themed, flavored, or have a yellow appearance. Below, I’ve listed some of my favorite party snacks to serve.

• Garlic Butter Noodle Cups: The perfect, savory bite to serve. Whip up some garlic butter noodles and serve in small ice cream cups.

• Butter Popcorn: An iconic snack that everyone can enjoy.

• A Butter Board: The obvious star of the party. Spread softened butter on a wooden board and top it with flaky salt, hot honey, edible flowers, herbs, jam, roasted garlic, lemon zest, or chili crisp. Serve with toasted bread, crackers, and croissants.

• Croissants: The most indulgent butter-infused pastry. Butter croissants are a no-brainer.

• Lemon Bars: Although lemon bars aren’t technically butter-flavored, the yellow color goes perfectly with the theme & adds a cheerful, bright flavor to the spread.

• Butter Birthday Cake: Whether you make your birthday cake from scratch or have a local baker make it for you, create a cake that looks like a stick of butter. Want to go a step further? Make the cake flavor a butter yellow cake.

• Butter Beer: Looking for a fun drink to serve? Butter beer is a fun soda drink to add to the beverage station.

Set the Mood with Cafe Music

When hosting a party of any kind, music helps set the mood and break up awkward silence. If you’re looking for a playlist to go along with the theme of the party, cafe music fits the vibe. Soft jazz mixed with classics from decades past makes for a cheerful, calm environment.

Burn a Butter Scented Candle

I’m all about activating all of the senses when hosting parties. Not only does it create a meaningful experience for everyone, but it also helps your guests feel comfortable and get into the aesthetic of the party. Burning a croissant-flavored candle only makes sense.
