This smoothie is decadent and energizing. It’s a blend of rich chocolate from cacao nibs and chocolate protein powder and coffee flavor from the addition of iced coffee. The addition of a frozen banana adds the perfect amount creaminess! This smoothie tastes like it should be a treat but it’s actually so healthy for you!
The best tips for creating a healthy smoothie:
- Freeze your Fruit: Using frozen bananas in your smoothies creates a thick, creamier texture in a smoothie. Depending on how many bananas you add, it can almost make the smoothie consistency comparable to a milkshake at times.
- Add a Scoop of Protein powder: Adding protein powder to your smoothies is a great way to get in some extra protein throughout the day. There are so many great protein powder companies out there that can cater to any need. Some of our favorite protein brands to use for our smoothies are Ancient Protein Chocolate Protien and Ancient Protein Vanilla Protein.
- Use a high powered blender: Using a high powered blender is perfect for blending smoothies to a perfect and creamy consistency. We have a couple of our favorite high-powered blenders listed below. Ingredients
- 1 1/2 frozen bananas
- 1 shot chilled espresso
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 1/2 cup spinach
- 2 tbsp cacao nibs
- 1 cup almond milk (Alt: milk or other milk alternative)
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour in a cup and enjoy!
Notes
Protein powder used: We used Ancient Nutrition in this recipe, which has a good flavor and creates a great whipped consistency.
Alternative to an espresso shot: Add a 1/2 cup of coffee chilled brewed coffee.
