Frosted Flake French Toast. A sweet brioche bread, coated in Frosted Flakes and topped with a delicious whipped strawberry butter.

Frosted Flake French Toast

Who doesn’t love a delicious French toast for breakfast? It’s a classic, and was one of our favorite breakfasts growing up. There’s just something so delicious about dipping the sweet, soft cinnamon bread into warm syrup that gets us every time.

Our favorite way to create new recipes is to take our classic childhood recipes and give them a modern twist, and that’s exactly what we did for this recipe.

We wanted to add some crunch texture to the soft bread, so coated the outside in Frosted Flakes. We made some creamy, whipped strawberry butter to spread on top and the combination of the two is DANGEROUSLY good!

We promise, you’ll never want to make French toast the same again!

This post is all about frosted flake French toast.

How to Make the French Toast…

Step 1: Slice and Soak

First things first…start by slicing the bread into 2 inch thick slices. Place the bread in a rimmed baking pan. This is where the bread will soak in the milk and egg mixture.

To make the milk and egg mixture, whisk together milk, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon and sugar in a small mixing bowl. Then, pour it over the bread and allow each side to soak in it for 2 minutes on each side.

Step 2: Crush and Coat

Now comes the fun part…coating the bread in the Frosted Flakes! In a rimmed bowl, pour the crushed Frosted Flakes, grab a piece of soaked bread and gently coat the bread in the cereal. It helps to press the Frosted Flakes into each side so you get an even, thick coating.

You’ll want to repeat this process until all the pieces of bread are coated.

Step 3: Cook the Toast

The last step to make the French toast is cooking it in a skillet. Start by heating the pan to medium heat. Then, add 2 tablespoons of butter. This may seem like a lot of butter, but trust us…it makes all the difference in flavor and cooking!

Place two pieces of toast into the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the frosted flakes are crispy and golden on the outside. Once the toast is cooked on either side, transfer it to a plate. You’ll then repeat this until all the toast is cooked.

Step 4: Make the Whipped Strawberry Butter

This is totally optional, but in our opinion it elevates the flavor of this Frosted Flake French toast to a whole other level.

To start, add room temperature butter to a stand mixer. Whip the butter for about a minute, and then add the strawberry preserves, diced strawberries, powdered sugar and vanilla.

The important step in making this is to then whip the remaining ingredients into the butter for 3 more minutes. You’ll start to see the color richen and the flavor will develop more as well.
