How to Make The Halloween Mummy Pumpkin Spice Oreo Truffles
You will need a food processor or a high powered blender to make the truffle dough. It is important that your sandwich cookie crumbs are very fine, so that they create a smooth truffle texture when the cream cheese is blended in. You start by adding your sandwich cookies to the food processor, blending until fine.
Next, you add in your cream cheese and blend until a dough starts to form. You will know to stop blending when your dough is thickened and well blended. You will then use a spoon to scoop out each truffle portion and roll into 1-inch dough balls. Place the truffle balls on a wax paper-lined baking sheet and chill in the freezer for 30 minutes. Chilling the truffles will make it easier to work with, when you coat them in chocolate.
Coating the Truffles
After they are chilled, you will start to melt your chocolate. We recommend using a double boiler, but if you do not have one, you can melt your chocolate in the microwave. If using a double boiler, fill your bottom pan half way with water, place your double boiler on top and fill with white chocolate chips and coconut oil. Continue to stir until melted and you have a thin consistency.
If you are using the microwave, place your chips and coconut oil in a microwave safe bowl, stopping and stirring the chocolate every 30 seconds until melted.
Using a tooth pick or a fork, dip the truffle balls into the white chocolate and roll around until the surface is fully coated. Remove from the chocolate and repeat this step until all your truffles are coated.
Bringing the Mummies to Life
Drizzle white chocolate stripes over each truffle to resemble a wrapped mummy. Before the chocolate drizzle cools, add two candy eyes to bring your mummy truffles to life! Let them chill in the fridge until you are ready to serve.
