Fall is arguably the best fashion season of the year. It’s filled with layers, cozy textures, and new, bold trends that emerge every year. In my opinion, it’s the season I enjoy dressing up for the most. There are so many ways to have fun and express your personality in new ways.
This year, I’m noticing a nod to the early-2000s, retro color combos, and making statements with patterns and textures. It’s no doubt going to be a fun, fashionable fall, and no matter how much I love the warm summer months, the cool, crisp autumn days are in the future. It’s time to get ready for them, so with that, here are the best fall fashion trends to help you make the most of the season.
1. Long Jeans with Slip Dress

Over the past several days, my feed has been flooded with Copenhagen Fashion Week. All the girls were bringing back a modern twist on an early-2000s layered look of jeans and a dress. However you feel about the decades-old trend, it’s back in a new way.
Start by layering long, baggier jeans with a slip dress. If the weather is chilly, you could even go as far as adding a sweater over the dress, too.

2. Slouchy Ankle Boots
I noticed the rise of the slouchy boot last year, and I’m so excited that it’s making its official return this year. While this style of boot was very much in during the early 2000s as well, the boho look of these boots can elevate any casual look. Style them with denim, skirts, and tights or a long fall dress.

3. Denim on Denim
Denim on denim, otherwise known as the “Canadian Tuxedo,” has always been a classic look for fall. I don’t ever predict it will go out of style, because of how iconic, casual, and elevated it can make an everyday look fit and feel. Our go-to look is a fun denim button-down paired with a baggy pair of jeans and some ballet flats — it’s cute and casual with a touch of femininity.

Oh, how I love a preppy moment in the fall. From cute collared tops to polo shirts, striped sweaters, and pleated skirts, I’m noticing the rise of the modern prep girl this season. It’s such a classy, schoolgirl look that’s quintessential to the fall season. Even though you might have graduated from high school or college, you can still live vicariously through the back-to-school season with this aesthetic.

5. Cow Print Details
@yourdailymuse_ Who else is obsessed with this trend?! 👀 .. These cow print flats are literally killing me 😍 #fallfashion #cowprint #animalprintoutfit #autumnfashion #fashioninspo ♬ YUKON Hello Vee Mashup – itshellovee
I have been seeing animal print everywhere lately — at J.Crew, Madewell, and REVOLVE — but more specifically, cow print. Take the opportunity to lean into the western aesthetic by investing in some fun detail pieces. For example, cow print belts, bags, jackets, and ballet flats.

6. Sequins, Sequins, Sequins
My affinity with sequins is something to be studied. As a ’90s and early-2000s kid, sequins reigned in the fashion world, so to see them making a comeback for early fall fashion makes me smile. I’m seeing sequins on tops, midi skirts, and pants, to name a few. Plus, you can style these pieces from day to night. After all, there’s no wrong way to wear sequins!

7. Equestrian Style
Ralph Lauren is the brains behind the iconic equestrian, Americana style that’s gracing the fashion world this season. Think tailored barn jackets, ruffle collared button-ups, and silk bandanas. This style was meant to be worn on a chilly, rainy day, walking around the city or through the local park, admiring the trees changing colors.

8. Fun Color Combinations
One of the trends I’m most excited for this season is sporting fun color combinations. Pairing chartreuse green with deep brown and royal purple with pops of pink are perfect ways to recreate a similar look. This is your moment to be bold and daring. Long gone are the days of neutral color palettes. Say hello to a more vibrant fall season.

9. A Pop of Red
The draw we have towards red during the fall months is undeniable. After all, Taylor Swift marked the season with “Red”, so why not embrace it? Feel free to style it with a bold color, like golden yellow or light green, for an eye-catching look. Or, make a statement with a cherry red blouse paired with a black jean or navy skirt.

10. Suede is Everything
Nothing is cozier than wearing suede in autumn. My personal favorite way to wear the textile is with a structured suede jacket. However, it would be so fun to style a midi-length suede skirt with a blouse or a stunning suede dress to wear to the office. It’s a casual fabric that always seems to elevate any look!
