How to make chocolate peanut butter popcorn snack mix….
This snack mix is super easy to make, but we’re going to make it simpler. The key? Prepping your work station for super easy clean up. Here’s what you need to do to whip up this snack mix in just 15 minutes!
Line two sheet pans with wax paper.
We recommend lining two sheet pans with parchment paper before your start to make the snack mix. That way when you’re ready to pour out the mixture onto the pans, they are ready to go! Wax paper is best because it won’t stick to the chocolate and make it easier to clean up and remove from the pan. If you don’t have wax paper, use parchment paper!
Pop popcorn and measure out other mix ins.
We used microwave popcorn solely based on convenience. If you want to pop corn over the stove, go for it! We recommend making the popcorn and measuring out all your other ingredients. So all you have to do is dump in the bowl and mix!
Melt chocolate chips.
You can melt chocolate chips over the stove or in the microwave. Four our recipe, we melted the peanut butter chips and chocolate chips in the microwave.
Heat the chips in a microwave safe bowl in 30 second increments. This way you can check to see how your chocolate is melting. Between each heating, make sure to stir the chocolate, that way it heats more evenly. Once the chelate is melted, you’re ready to pour over your mixture.
Mix melted peanut butter chips into mixture to coat.
Carefully pour the melted peanut butter chips over your snack mixture. Use a rubber spatula or wooden spoon to mix the mixture together. If you want you can even get your hands dirty and mix it together with your hands.
Spread on pan and drizzle with dark chocolate.
Once the mixture is evenly coated with the peanut butter mixture, pour half the mixture on one baking sheet and the last half on the other. Evenly spread the mixture onto the pan. Melt the dark chocolate, and drizzle over the snack mix.
Chill to set. Break apart and enjoy!
Place both baking sheets in your fridge or freezer (if you want a faster chill) to set the chocolate. It takes about 10-15 minutes to set. Once the chocolate has chilled, break large chunks apart and pour in a bowl to serve!

What makes this the best snack mix for summer?
- A fix to your sweet and salty cravings. After a day at the pool or lounging at the end of the day for a movie night, there always seems to be an internal battle of, “salty or sweet?”. And our motto is, if you can’t decide, have a bit of both! This snack mix is the perfect combo!
- Take on the go. No matter what your summer schedule is, you’ll have a large batch snack to take on the go. If you’re outdoors, be sure to pack a cooler to keep it cool, the chocolate can get a bit melty.
- It’s a fun summer activity. Making snack mix doesn’t take a lot of time and its fun to make. Best part is, you get a yummy snack at the end. Perfect if you have some down time or are looking for something fun to do in the kitchen!

Recipe Tips:
- Use large mixing bowl. This mix makes a large batch and you will have snacks for days to come. So we recommend using the largest mixing bowl you can find. If you don’t have a large enough bowl on hand, split up your mix into 2 or 3 smaller bowls so that you don’t make a large mess. You can also use a large pot for mixing together the mix!
- Make more or less. Adjust the amount of the ingredients to make for the amount of people your serving. If you’re serving a couple people, maybe half the batch. Serving a large group? Add a bit more! The good thing is there’s not much science behind this recipe.
- Heat chocolate in 30 second increments. If you’re melting chocolate in the microwave, melt in 30 second increments to avoid over cooking the chocolate. And between each heating, stir the chocolate for more even heating. Once all the chocolate is melted, you’re ready to pour over your mix.
How to store the snack mix…
Store snack mix in the refrigerator an airtight container or zip locked backs to keep fresh. We like to store snack mixes in these cereal containers! You want to store in a cool place so that the chocolate doesn’t melt. Your snack mix should be good in the fridge for up 7 days.

- 1 cup peanut butter pretzels
- 2 cups peanut butter chips, melted
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips, melted
- 1 tsp coconut oil
Instructions
- Line a large baking sheet with wax paper or parchment paper. We recommend wax paper because it will work easier to remove the party mix at the end.
- Start by prepping your party mix mix-ins. Pop two bags of pop corn and empty into a large bowl. Add in potato chips, peanuts, and peanut butter pretzels.
- Next melt peanut butter chips and 1/2 tsp coconut oil in a medium microwave-safe bowl in the microwave. Heat in 30 second increments and pause to stir before heating again.
