Spinach Mushroom Dairy Free Quiche with a gluten free crust.

Spinach Mushroom Dairy Free Quiche (Gluten Free Crust)

This spinach mushroom dairy free quiche tastes so incredible you will never know that it isn’t made with heavy cream or any other dairy products.

Although we aren’t lactose intolerant, we do feel better if we avoid foods with heavy creams and whole milk products.

We absolutely love quiche. It’s honestly a staple in our house. We eat it for breakfast lunch or dinner, because it’s so filling. The eggs are an added protein and the vegetables add so much flavor and added nutrition.

This post is all about dairy free quiche.

Why You’ll Love This Dairy Free Quiche

  • It’s not as heavy and rich as a quiche with heavy cream and milk
  • The texture is just like a regular quiche
  • It tastes delicious

What Makes This Quiche Dairy Free?

Traditional quiche is often made with butter, heavy cream and/or cheese. We eliminated and swapped these traditional quiche ingredients to make this quiche still taste decadent and qualify as dairy free.

In this dairy free quiche recipe we don’t use butter, or cheese. We swapped the heavy cream with full-fat, canned coconut milk.

Coconut Milk In A Quiche

If you’re still a little hesitant to make the swap from heavy cream to coconut milk, allow us to reassure you that coconut milk is great substitute for heavy cream in quiche.

We recommend buying full-fat coconut canned coconut milk. We love Thai Kitchen’s Organic Unsweetened Coconut Milk, but any full-fat coconut milk will be perfectly fine.

The coconut milk has a rich flavor and carries that richness into the quiche as it bakes. Since we substituted heavy cream with coconut milk, we haven’t gone back. It’s seriously so good!

What Vegan Pie Crust Do We Recommend?

Several years ago, we wanted to find a healthier alternative to a traditional frozen, store-bought pie crust, and we wanted it to be vegan and dairy-free.

We tried Wholly Wholesome Gluten-Free Vegan Pie Crust, and have used it for every quiche, fruit pie, and tomato pie ever since.

Wholly Wholesome sells several different types of frozen vegan pie crusts, but the gluten-free version (made of spelt flour) is our absolute favorite!

What’s in this Recipe?

Eggs: There is no quiche without eggs. We love using Vital Farms eggs, because they are pasture-raised eggs and so good for you.

Full-Fat Canned Coconut Milk: We highly recommend using full-fat canned coconut milk for this recipe. It will add a richer flavor and texture to the dairy free quiche.

Baby Bella Mushrooms: Before adding the mushrooms into our quiche, we sauté them in a pan for added flavor. If you don’t like mushrooms, you can substitute it for any other vegetable of choice.

Spinach: Spinach is such an easy green vegetable to sneak into any recipe. We love adding it to quiche.

Garlic: We love adding fresh garlic to recipes. It tastes so much better and adds a delicious depth to the quiche recipe.

Umami Spice: To enhance the mushroom flavor and add some added flavor to this quiche, we added some umami spice. It’s one of our favorite things to add to savory dishes.

Gluten-free Vegan Frozen Pie Crust: We are obsessed with Wholly Wholesome frozen pie crust. Not only is it vegan, but it’s gluten free and made of great ingredients.
