How to Host a Fall Movie Night
1. Pick a Movie
The first step and most important step to hosting a fall movie night is picking out a movie. There are so many cute autumnal themed movies to choose from this time of year, but don’t limit yourself to just movies. Shows like Gilmore Girls and Gossip Girl are also on our list of things to watch.
2. Movie Night Dinner Ideas
Want to serve dinner to your friends for movie night? There are so many fall-themed dinners to make for a crowd or a few friends.
When we’re hosting movie nights at our house, we always like to go for easy meals. Many times we’re gathering with friends on Fridays after work, so a quick dinner recipe we can make after a day of work is a must.
Here are some of our favorite fall-inspired movie dinner ideas:
Pumpkin Vodka Rigitoni Pasta
Pretzel Focaccia Bread
Cheesy Pumpkin Lasagna
Healthy Homemade Hamburger Helper
Herby Garlic White Pizza
Four-Cheese Baked Mac & Cheese
3. Fall Movie Snacks & Treats
Movie snacks and treats are a nonnegotiable for movie night. We love making or buying these thing ahead of time, so that they are ready to go when the evening rolls around. You can even ask your friends to pitch in and bring their favorite snack — that way you know everyone has something they will enjoy for the movie.
Fall Movie Night Snack Mix
Fluffernutter S’mores Bars
Biscoff White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies
Fall Apple Cheddar Charcuterie Board
Haunted Crescent Mummy Dogs
Spooky Frankenstein Brownies
4. Movie Night Beverages
When snacks and food are provided, drinks should also be on hand. Some of our favorite drinks to serve friends for a fall movie night are:
- Oli Pops (we love the Crisp Apple Olipop for fall)
- Sparkling Water
- Apple Cider
- Mulled Wine
- Coffee (serve it with the Pumpkin Chobani Creamer)
- Tea
5. Fall Movie Night Activities
- Pull a Movie from the Hat: Everyone writes down 3 movies they want on small pieces of paper. Fold and place the paper into a hat. The host randomly draws a movie to watch that night.
- Mini Pumpkin Painting: Before or while you watch the movie, gather everyone at a dining table or living room floor to paint your mini pumpkins.
- Roll out a piece of butcher paper or lay out a disposable table cloth to cover the table or floor surface.
- Have an assortment of acrylic paint, paint brushes, water cups and paper plates for everyone.
- Choose a pumpkin design to paint and have fun with it. Check out this post to see adorable painted pumpkin designs.
- While you finish watching the rest of the movie, leave the pumpkins to dry.
- Candy Jar Guessing Game: Fill a mason jar or candy jar with candy corn, fall M&Ms or other fall candy pieces. Have everyone write their name and their guess of how much candy is in the jar on a small piece of paper. Place the guesses in a small collection box.
- Before the movie starts or at the end of the night, reveal the winner — the person who guessed the correct number of candy or was closest to the correct number.
Other Movie Night Necessities:
Lastly, we never host a movie night without having a supply of cozy blankets and pillows. It’s a must! Of course, there are some more items we recommend to make movie night the ultimate night of the week:
