To be honest, I’m already too excited for Halloween, and it’s a month away. The countdown for wearing cute costumes and hosting Halloween parties is already being set in motion now that the crisp fall mornings have returned.
One of my favorite traditions for the month of October is giving my friends a cute boo basket. Yes, just because we’re adults in our late twenties and thirties doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun this holiday. There are so many fun directions you can go with assembling the perfect boo basket, so I’m breaking down my favorite formula for gifting baskets. Plus, I’m sharing several Halloween gift basket options your friends will love.
My “Boo Basket Formula”
1. Something Cozy
First things first, I always like to add something cozy to the basket. This could be anything from socks, a little plush animal, a set of pajamas, or a blanket.
2. Something Practical
Next, it’s time to think of something practical. While all the items in the basket have a use, I love adding a little gift that I know they will be able to use immediately. This could be a small lip balm, lip gloss, a body mist, pumpkin hand sanitizer, etc. There are so many things you could think of here.
3. Something Sweet
Moving on to a sweet treat filler — this is essential to the basket. After all, it is Halloween, and what’s a boo basket without a trick-or-treat element? Add your friend’s favorite candy, cookie flavor, or sweet dessert to the basket.
4. Something Salty
To balance the sweet treat, I always add a salty snack as well. This could be a couple of bags of Halloween-themed crackers, chips, or pretzels. As always, you can get creative with your snacks and make them as elaborate or simple as you would like.
5. Something Personal
Lastly, I love to add something personal to the boo basket. This makes each basket unique and special to the person receiving it. So, this could be anything from a gift card to your friend’s favorite restaurant, a craft or hobby (a fall book or needlepoint map), or a brand of coffee they really love.
Again, this part of the gift is dependent on what your friend enjoys, so you could make it anything that would make them feel special.
