This vegan cashew cheese sauce is the perfect topping for nachos or used as a delicious vegan queso dip!
Growing up in Texas, we basically were born easting chips and queso. It’s one of our favorite comfort foods and we have a bad habit of craving it almost every week. As we got older, we wanted to find a healthier alternative to the delicious cheese dip.
Over the past several years, vegan cashew cheese sauces has become more popular and we wanted to challenge ourselves to see if we could make our own at home. This vegan cashew cheese is full of flavor and it is such a delicious non-dairy alternative to your classic queso dip.
Made with cashews, garlic cloves, nutritional yeast, and seasonings. We love topping our sweet potato nachos with this cashew cheese or just dipping air fried tortilla chips in it as a yummy appetizer or snack.

Vegan Cashew Cheese Sauce
What’s in this recipe?
Soaked cashews: We like to soak our cashews over night for the best results. We’ve found that soaking them in hot water for 30-45 minutes gets a similar (but not extremely smooth consistency).
Garlic cloves: Garlic is such a delicious flavor in this cashew cheese.
Nutritional yeast: Since this is a non-dairy cheese dip, the nutritional yeast adds a cheese flavor to the cashew cheese sauce.
Almond milk: We like adding almond milk to this recipe, but you can use any alternative milk you like (oat milk, coconut milk, macadamia nut milk).
Seasonings: To add a delicious tex-mix flavor to this cashew dip that we love in other queso recipes, we added some flavorful seasonings. These include turmeric, cumin, paprika, chili powder, oregano, and onion powder.
How to Make Vegan Cashew Cheese Sauce
This cashew cheese dip is super simple to make and takes just about 5 minutes to whip up!
You’ll first want to make sure you have a high speed blender. We love using this one to make any sort of sauces, smoothies and soups that need to be blended. We also really love this Nutribullet, because it saves so much space and is super easy to clean.
You then add all your ingredients to a high speed blender and blend until the sauce is super smooth and combined really well. After it’s blended we like the heat it in a small sauce pan over the stove to make warm it up like traditional queso.
Lastly, enjoy with some air fryer tortilla chips or on top of nachos!
