This post is all about a small masculine home office reveal.

Masculine Home Office Design

This design project has been a long time coming, and we’re finally revealing the rendering!

It took quite a bit of convincing to get our dad on board design his office. He works from home, and we wanted to create a space for him that reflected his personality and ideal work environment, since he spends so much of his time during the week in that one space.

Since it is a pretty small room, our goal was to maximize the space—visually and functionally. We know our dad is going to absolutely love this design. We can’t wait to get started!

Before:

Below, are the pictures of what the office looks like now. It’s bland, cluttered and has a lot of furniture in different places.

The one piece we knew we wanted to keep in this space was the desk. It’s made of solid wood and is such a gorgeous desk—it’s too good to replace and it fits the space well.

Our dad has mentioned that he wants more functional storage in the space for his printer, office supplies and other belongings. We totally agree, and his current space isn’t serving him to the fullest!

We find this to be the biggest struggle clients come to us for. They love their space, but need our help making it more functional and representative of their personality and lifestyle.

We know this project is going to be SO FUN and our dad is going to so surprised by the transformation of his space.

The Design Style for this Space: Transitional (Modern + Traditional Design)

Requests for the Space:

  • A masculine color scheme
  • More functional storage
  • Keep the existing executive desk
  • Make the room feel inviting and motivating to work
  • Since it’s a small space, we want to make it still feel grand

The Mood Board for the Space

The Renderings of the Small Masculine Home Office

Our first idea was to paint all of the walls the same color. Since this is a smaller space, doing this will actually make it feel larger. The green color (shop the specific color below) is also a great, calming color for his office as well. We wanted to add texture to the ceiling too, so adding some shiplap panelling to the ceiling would certainly achieve that. Painting the ceiling the same green color as the walls, will make the space feel more cohesive.

The next big thing we did was add one shelf unit on either side of the window and a storage bench under the window. We love how this grounds the back wall, creates a focal point and provides our dad plenty of storage for office supplies and other items.

Some elements we added to soften the space and make it cozier were the roman shades on the window, the new pattered rug, and the cozy accent chair in the corner.

We repositioned his desk to fit the space more proportionately.

Then, we places a sleek white, glass white board on one wall and a large pice of art on the other to balance the space.

To add warmth, we added a floor lamp next to the accent chair and a desk lamp to his desk.

This design project is off to such a good start. We can’t wait to give our dad the home office of his dreams!
