12 Genius Kitchen Cabinet Organization Ideas
1. Use Cabinet Space to Store Bulk Pantry Items
Do you have limited pantry space? Maybe you have no pantry space at all? If this is your situation, there are actually some really great ways to use the space you have to store your food items.
A great way to do this is to use a kitchen cabinet to store some of your bulkier pantry items, such as, flour, sugar, nut mix, protein powders, and other baking goods.
Using large clear containers are our favorite way to store items, because you can see the items you are looking for. Adding pantry labels to your clear containers makes them look aesthetic as well. Once your food items are organized, it makes cooking so much easier, because you know where each item is.
2. Stack Your Pans Sideways
We do this in our kitchen, and it has saved us a lot of space in our kitchen. Not only does storing your cookie sheets vertically save space, but it makes them much easier to access as well.
You can build your own cabinet dividers or buy these pan organizer racks. You’ll find that storing your pans vertically will seriously change the game as far as kitchen organization.
3. Use a Small Cabinet to Conceal Small Kitchen Appliances
We have a slight obsession with buying small kitchen appliances. So much so, that we are running out of space to store a lot of them.
If you’re like us and own a lot of small kitchen appliances and don’t have any cabinet space to store them, buying a cabinet for your kitchen is a great solution.
We love this one from Crate & Barrel, because it has a work top as well. You can use it as small kitchen appliance storage as well as additional prep space for cooking.
4. Use Hooks Inside Your Kitchen Cabinets
Adding a hook like the one above is a super affordable and practical way to add more storage inside the cabinet under your kitchen sink.
This cabinet hook provides a place for you to hang your kitchen towels and wire storage space on the inside of the cabinet. This is a perfect place to store extra cleaning sponges, multipurpose spray and other cleaning products.
5. Designate Drawers for Different Uses and Functions (Tea Drawer Organization)
When organizing our kitchen, we like to designate different drawers for different kitchen items. Whether it’s a drawer full of cooking tools, silverware, or even tea, each one is put in their own “zone” (or space in a drawer).
Creating different zones within your kitchen can help you use your space more efficiently and allows you to have more fun with your storage options. Aside from our other utensil and kitchen tool drawers, we created a tea drawer. We drink tea multiple times a day, so this was a must in our kitchen.
Here are some zones you can designate for your kitchen drawers:
- Silverware
- Grilling tools
- Cooking tools
- Baking tools
- Baking bowls
- Tea drawer
- Coffee drawer
- Spice drawer
- Knife Organization
- Tupperware Drawer
- Kitchen Linen Drawer
- Food Storage Bags, Foils and Wraps
6. Add Cabinet Shelves to Maximize Your Space
We love to collect dinnerware, mugs and kitchen goods of any kind. Living in a small apartment, you have to be smart with your space, so if you collect a lot of dishes as well, you may want to think about using cabinet shelves.
Cabinet shelves maximize the small space you do have and actually create even more space for your items. With cabinet shelves, you’re able to stack plates and bowls below and on top of the shelf—giving you double the space you had before!
7. Use a Tiered Spice Rack
Adding a tiered spice rack to our small apartment kitchen pantry helped us save so much space for other items in our pantry!
We absolutely love the tired rack we got from the Container Store. It fits all our spices, allows us to see every label at eye level, and provides us easy access to any spice we need.

8. Install Cabinet Pull Out Drawers
Pots and pans take up so much space in your kitchen cabinet, so finding a smart storage solution is a must when you don’t have a lot space to work with.
We love these cabinet pull out drawers that you can install in your kitchen cabinet. They give you room to store cutting boards, frying pans, lids, and different sized pots. Whenever you need them, you can simply pull out the drawer and grab the items you need.
9. Organize The Space Under Your Kitchen Sink
Maybe it’s just our Tiktok algorithm, but lately we’ve been seeing so many people organize the space under their sink. It’s a space that people often neglect, but once it’s organized, you’ll be so thankful.
You recommend using sleek, acrylic containers to organize dishwasher pods, sponges, Mr. Clean Erasers and dish towels. The additional space under your sink is also a great space to store other cleaning products, like cleaning sprays, bottled dish soap, trash bags and paper towels.
10. Shallow Drawer Organizers Give Utensils a Home
One of our favorite ways to organize drawers is to use shallow drawer organizers. These are easy to slide into your drawer and give all your utensils a home. This will keep your whisks, wooden spoons and rubber spatulas organized for easy access when you are cooking.
11. Organize Coffee Mugs on Cabinet Shelves
We are heavy coffee and tea drinkers, and with that obsession comes our love for coffee mugs. We seriously have so many that we have to stack them on top of one another. Stacking our mugs has caused us to chip or crack some of our favorite dishes.
One of the best ways to organize your coffee mugs is to use cabinet shelves. Like we mentioned above, you can use cabinet shelves to store your mugs below, as well as on top of the shelf. These shelves double your storage space and may even give you room in your cabinet for other kitchen items.
12. Vertical Plate Racks Save Space
Another great way to save space in your kitchen cabinets is to use vertical plate racks. These are seriously such a genius organization hack for storing your plates!
Vertical storage can give you so much of your cabinet space back and allows easy access to your dishes. These vertical plate racks completely change the organization game!
