  • Total Time: 29 minutes
  • Yield: 10 treats 1x

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 stick salted butter ((read note below if using unsalted butter))
  • 12 cups mini marshmallows (about 2 bags) ((one cup is reserved to add in separately at the end))
  • 8 cups rice krispies cereal
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract)
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • red food dye
  • decorative sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. First lightly grease and line a 9×13 pan with spray or rub surface with softened butter.
  2. In a dutch oven over medium heat, melt butter until bubbly and golden.
  3. Pour in your marshmallows (reserving 1 cup to mix in separately at the end) and stir with rubber spatula until completely melted. CAREFUL not to overcook! They melt quickly!
  4. Once melted, remove the mixture from the heat and add in vanilla. Mix to incorporate. Pour your rice krispies into the pot and stir until evenly incorporated. Stir in the remaining marshmallows.
  5. Pour the krispie mixture in your greased pan and press down. Lightly wet or grease your hands and press the into the pan until evenly filled.
  6. Cover with foil or plastic wrap and chill in the freezer for about 15 minutes while you prep your dipping chocolate.
  7. There are a couple ways to melt the chocolate: a double boiler or the microwave. If using a double boiler, fill your bottom pot half-way with water and place double boiler pot on top. Turn stove top to medium low heat, add your white chocolate chips and coconut oil and stir continuously until completely melted. If using microwave, put chocolate chips and coconut into a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds at a time stopping to stir after each interval, until the chocolate has melted completely.
  8. Once your chocolate is melted, stir in your food coloring to the desired shade.
  9. Remove the chilled rice krispie treats from the fridge and cut them in heart shapes, using heart-shaped cookie cutter.
  10. Once you have your rice krispie hearts made, prep a baking sheet with parchment or wax paper. Dip in your treats half way into the melted white chocolate and place on the lined cookie sheet. Sprinkle with sprinkles before the chocolate sets. Place in the freezer for 5-10 minutes to chill and allow the chocolate to set.
  11. Remove from freezer once the chocolate has set and enjoy!!
