This post is all about oat milk hot chocolate.

The Inspiration Behind the Recipe

Growing up, our mom would always make us hot cocoa on cold days in the fall and winter. We always looked forward to the hot chocolate treat, even though most of the time it was the cocoa mix from the package.

There’s something so delightful and heart-warming about a hot, steamy cup fo cocoa. Even if it is from the package, it still tastes delightful.

We were inspired to create a cocoa that tasted similar to the packaged kind. A beverage that was rich and chocolatey, but also super creamy.

We love the taste of oat milk in hot beverages, because it creates such a creamy and delicious consistency and flavor. That’s why we decided to make this delicious cozy and creamy oat milk hot chocolate.

What’s in the hot chocolate recipe?

Oat milk: Using oat milk in this recipe is what gives the hot cocoa a creamy flavor. We love using oat milk in hot beverages. If you’ve never tried it, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how creamy it is in this recipe!

Cacao Powder: This gives the hot chocolate a decadent chocolatey flavor.

Coffee: We add a pinch of coffee to our hot cocoa, because it helps to bring out a richer flavor of the chocolate. You don’t want to add too much to your hot cocoa, because you don’t want the coffee flavor to over power the delicious cocoa powder.

Maple Syrup: This is what gives your hot cocoa the bit of sweetness it needs. Rich maple syrup melds the flavors together perfectly.

Add toppings

If you’re like us, you like your hot chocolate simple and plain most of the time, so several marshmallows are perfect on top.

However, if you like a more decadent hot chocolate or are craving a fancier beverage by all means make one! Top your hot chocolate with chipped cream and chocolate shavings. Around the holidays we love adding peppermint pieces to the top of our oat milk hot chocolate.
