With a new year, comes new trends and design ideas, and one of our favorite things to look forward to in a new year are the new paint color trends.
Ever since we were little, we have been obsessed with staying up to date on all the paint color trends. We were constantly dreaming of what our room would look like with new paint colors. To this day, we can’t wait to see all the new paint.
That said, the paint trends have changed yet again, so we thought we would share the top 10 paint color trends of 2022.
You may be shocked to see some of these colors come back like we were (one of them reminding us of our childhood bedroom), but we are honestly so excited to see these colors play out in beautiful designs this year.
This post is all about paint color trends for 2022.
Top 10 Paint Color Trends for 2022
1. Grey Green
We noticed this color creeping up into popularity over the past year, but this year Benjamin Moore labeled it as their color of the year. It has some silvery, green tones in it, which makes it the perfect mixture of cool tones and earthy tints.
This color would look beautiful in a room, as an accent wall or on cabinets. The possibilities are endless!
We have all the heart-eyes for Backdrop Paint’s color options, and love their take on the grey-green color of the year.

3. Charcoal Black
We predicted black accents to make a bold and confident comeback in 2022, and it has been confirmed as a trendy paint color this year.
We keep being attracted to the deep charcoal black color, because of its high contrast and moodiness it brings into a space—small or large.
This color is complemented beautifully with light, neutral tones—like white, cream and tan. These colors will help add texture and depth against the bold charcoal grey.

4. Creamy Grey White
Light Beige has become the new “crisp white”. Although we love a beautiful white kitchen, light beige cabinetry has taken the Pinterest and design world by storm.
It has a more vintage, cozy feel than a stark white. We love how it makes a room feel warmer. The creamy white paint shades compliment other grounding colors and textiles in a space as well—such as, rich, caramel wood floors and amber vintage rugs.

5. Lilac
Okay, when we saw that lilac was a trending color this year we were shocked! When we were kids, Morgan painted her room this exact color, so it’s funny that it’s back in style.
However, we do think that this paint color is such a happy and calming color. It does have some grey undertones which keeps this color more contemporary and modern.
We can just imagine an adorable girl’s room, nursery, or on kitchen cabinets.

6. Teal
We have to say that blue is one of our least favorite paint colors to use in a design, but this color’s shade of blue seems nostalgic and calming to us. We don’t think we would rule it out in a design for 2022.
The teal color that overtook the 90’s is back, but with a modern twist. It’s a mix of green and blue with rich, grey undertones. This color has so much depth and personality in itself. It would look gorgeous in any room.
